Euro-Partners

The international project Euro-Partners took place from 1 to 7 November 2009 in Sărata-Monteoru, Buzău County, Romania.

The aim of the project was to create a space for structured dialogue, to facilitate collaboration on future international youth projects.

The 26 participants, members of youth organisations from 10 European Union countries, worked together to create partnerships between the NGOs they represent, through activities such as discussions, debates, Euro-cafés and project fairs.

One of the concrete results of this project is a follow-up project, the European Non-Formal Education Network (AlterEdu), a network initiative designed to support and promote non-formal education, enabling its members to share knowledge and ideas and to get involved in common initiatives.

It was financed by the Youth in Action Programme, funded by the European Commission, under line 4.3, with a budget of €19,000.

Non-Formal Education Network

Non-formal education offers a set of necessary social skills useful to every child, young person and adult, complementing the other forms of education by giving free time educational value and by enriching life experiences through voluntary participation, individually or in a group. Non-formal education gives people a choice of hobbies and extracurricular activities, helping us to become active citizens and responsible individuals. Non-formal education creates better opportunities to develop key competencies such as time management, communication, social skills, entrepreneurship, critical thinking, self-management, intercultural communication, decision-making, non-discrimination and tolerance, gender equality, etc.
